Reencuentro Venezuela: so no family searches alone after the earthquake
On June 24, 2026, the ground shook in Venezuela. In the middle of the emergency, thousands of families were separated: parents, children, and siblings who, from one moment to the next, no longer knew where the other was.
There are few kinds of anguish like that one — not knowing. While so many people search tirelessly, through rubble, shelters, and hospitals, the same question repeats: where are my people? That question, and the impossibility of standing still in front of it, is what gave rise to Reencuentro Venezuela.
What Reencuentro is
Reencuentro is a free, non-profit, non-political platform that brings together several tools — some powered by artificial intelligence — to help locate people after the earthquake.
You can search for someone by name or by description, intelligently cross-referencing the available data and metadata, and also from a photo, through facial biometrics. What the platform shows are possible matches, for a person to verify — it doesn’t claim anything for you, it accompanies the search. All of it organized into the three realities of any catastrophe: the missing, the rescued, and the reunited.
Why it exists
Reencuentro was born from a question that’s always with us: how can we use our gifts to contribute something good, to make the world a slightly better place? Making an impact on the world — leaving it better than we found it — is something that moves us at our core, and faced with what was happening across the border, standing still was not an option.
From that conviction, and from the deep affection between two sibling peoples — for our Venezuelan brothers and sisters — this came to be. Because when you have the chance to help, helping stops being optional. What we’re after is simple: for a mother to find her child. For two siblings to embrace again. For a family, in the middle of everything, to finally receive the news they’d been waiting for.
